Jewish Program — MJHS Hospice offers a unique way of caring for all Jewish patients by addressing individual, spiritual and religious beliefs in accordance with Jewish law (Halacha) and the patient/family’s personal practices. The residence observes all kosher dietary laws. A rabbi is available on request to provide pastoral counseling, caring conversations and end-of-life issues.
Jewish holidays are observed, and all staff members are sensitive to Jewish religious and cultural preferences. We assist with funeral planning and work with funeral homes and the Chevra Kadisha. We have the unique ability to obtain electronic death certificates, which facilitate burial within 24 hours of the patient’s passing. MJHS skilled nursing facilities and Jewish hospice residences all observe kosher dietary laws.
